Trees on Ancestry show different parents than those connected here on Geni, so I've been searching and so far haven't found any site(s) that list Margery's parents, only that her maiden name was Herman. I've come to the conclusion that no one knows who her parents actually were, or at least no documentation has been posted to prove which set is accurate.

Ancestry and Family Search show her parents as:Casparus Augustine Herman and Susanna Huyberts, but with nothing documenting those connections any more than the connections here on Geni.

The only thing in common is that she married Herman Kinkey. In fact, every site I saw other than Geni spells her first name as Marjorie, not Margery.

If anyone has a source / documentation that confirms if either of these couples were actually her parents or whether her parents are simply unknown would be helpful to post here on Geni. Otherwise, I have to conclude that her parents connected here aren't actually in my ancestral lineage.

Thanks in advance for any additional informatoin.

I failed to mention, the parents listed on the other sites are the ones connected as her grandparents here on Geni. But again, nothing actually proving they were her parents.

That said, if Marjorie was born in 1682, it's actuallly more likely that couple would have been her parents rather than her grandparents. I say this because Geni is showing her connected mother here on Geni - sabella Herman (Trent) - to have been born in 1695, after Marjorie herself was born. So the dates for the connected parents here on Geni don't work.

Debbie Gambrell - I’m of the opinion that Marjorie Koennecke the maiden name Herman seen for Margery is what I think of as a “genealogy name.” In this case, picked up from her husband’s name “Harmon.” And that her parents are unknown.

I made prominent a screen shot of a Quaker meeting record that is probably her, although I didn’t check it.

I found biographical details on Isabella Herman and Col. Ephraim Augustine Herman who were indeed married, but their daughters were Catharine and Mary.

Ah - I see on the discussion https://www.geni.com/discussions/251351?msg=1570379 that you’ve seen her as

Anna Margarita Herman (Kinkey-Kankey) (1674–1724) aka Marjorie Married 1692

Which is plausible.

I’m having trouble thinking of these Dutch / German settlers in Maryland as Quakers in Pennsylvania. Is there a date for the record & a description of the event?

Never mind - the event is her daughter Margery’s marriage in 1725 with her parents recorded in the Monthly Meeting records.

She had gotten Geni separated from her parents.

Margery Gregg

Thanks for your work on that, Erica. I think you're right that she wasn't par of the Herman family she had been attached to.

That Herman family were the lords of Bohemia Manor. In other words, really, really rich. Does that look like your Margery?

As I said, I never found anything connecting her to that family, which his why I said I think your assessment of it is correct. I found one site where someone had connected from Casper Hermann via Margery down to the Cox / Kinkey line on their site but nothing documented it and I never found another site making that connection. Most don't show her parents.
