William Griswold's birth and death dates are wildly unbelievable. In tracing a line of Griswolds four generations above him and thirteen generations after him, his dates seem to be decades too early. He is born about the same year as his father. He died about ten years before his son John I was born. His wife was born ten years after his death and the same year as her son John I. The most difficult part of the chain of Griswolds is William's grandfather Ralph, who lived about 111 years.
