I have searched in the British army records and there is no record of Lipman Bowman in the 1914-1918 war. I do not therefore believe that he was killed in action.
At the time of the 1891 census he lived with his mother, father, and siblings. The 1891 census records him as 9 years of age so that he was probably born in 1882.
By the time of the 1911 census Lipman Bowman would have been aged 29 years. He is no longer in the census record at the address of his mother and father.
Lipman Bowman does not appear at all in the census record for the UK in 1911. Suggesting not only had he moved away from his parents address he had also moved away from UK. He would have been aged 29 yrs.

Lipman Bowman aged 19 yrs is still with his parents in the 1901 census at their home in Whitechapel.

I therefore think that aged 19-29yrs Lipman Bowman has left the UK.

I also checked the UK death records for the period 1901-1911 and it comes up with no results for Lipman Bowman.

I also checked London marriages 1901-1911 and it comes up with no results for Lipman Bowman.
