(Queenie) Mary Ann Waterhouse (Padman) - The nickname "Queenie"

I know that in the Padman/Waterhouse family tree book is has that Mary Ann's nickname was "Queenie" but according to her granddaughter, Ruth Ward (my late grandmother), she was never ever known by this nickname. Would love to know how it started, if it was just an accident printed in the book or if maybe one person called her this and added it for book submission.
