I am hoping someone has great ideas how I can "prove" my Jacobs roots are Welsh or Jewish. YDNA is E-M35 which seems to lean toward the Jewish. Oldest known ancestor was John Jacobs born in 15 APR 1812 • Shippensburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania where his parents died when he was young. The family lore was he was parents from Wales and there was a large welsh community in Shippensburg PA. He was raised on a farm when orphaned. He married a Scottish woman, Caroline Cannon b 1822 Chambersburg PA, in a Presbyterian Church. These facts tilt toward the Welsh side. I have not found the PA orphan records. Love your thoughts.
