Lois and Bjorn,
For example, when I type in: Elias Mackey *site: geni.com (Elias is my 5th great grandfather confirmed.), I get this as a result:
Elias Mackay is your 11th cousin thrice removed.

Through my mother's side, not my father's! Perhaps I just do not know how to work this program, I don't know.
I am missing what that has to do with whether or not you have YDNA matches, either on Geni or on FTDNA. Bjorn's response is addressing reasons you might not see YDNA matches on Geni even if such matches exist, or see the results propagated.
If you have no YDNA matches at FTDNA, then you will have no YDNA matches on Geni. Do yo have YDNA matches at FTDNA?
I just went to your 5th great grandfather, clicked the pushpin, then clicked on your name and it told me "Robin Mackey is Elias Mackey's fifth great grandson" and when I expand it the path goes thru your father, etc.
If you go to your profile, click Actions, click Ancestor Report, and increase to enough generations, you should be able to get to any ancestor without searching on google or whatever.
Discussing paths on Geni is a completely separate topic from discussing YDNA matches. One has nothing to do with the other.
Have you upgraded your DNA kit since you connected it to Geni? FTDNA will not update Geni with the new results automatically, so you have to disconnect/reconnect the kit to the Geni profile to get in and propagate the new results.
You could in any case log in on FTDNA and disconnect/reconnect the DNA kit under:
https://www.familytreedna.com/my/partner-applications
In any case you get many matches when searching an Elias Mackey and selected the wrong one, - I guess this is the profile you was looking for, and as you can see your YDNA is propagated to him: Elias Mackey
However: You cannot expect a DNA match to any person without having a test of that person to compare with. Even if you was able to locate the burial place of your 5th great grandfather I doubt that there is anything left of him you can extract DNA from.
Bjorn, Thank you. As I stated before, Elias Mackey at Barbourville, Kentucky, USA, is definitely confirmed as my 5ggf., and he is in the Mackey Cemetery there at Mackey Bend on the Cumberland River. My question is more that why he only shows up as a cousin through my mother's side and not as a paternal grandfather?
Lois, Thank you for your response also. Yes, I do have matches at FTDNA, in fact I have tested every level through Big Y-700. It's probably all because I don't know how to use these sites completely. Again, thank you.
