He was County Sussex (UK). Whose follower he was in Parl. Where as the ldr of the WI planters he had great influence though an indifferent orator). He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) Heytesbury , Seaford 1796–1806 and 1812–26 and E Grinstead 1807–12 in 1793. Circa 1798 bought the Claremont estate, Esher, Surrey. He was created 1st Baron Seaford of Seaford on 15 July 1826. On 15 July 1826 so created (nominated by the future PM George Canning (see GARVAGH. He was married 2nd Anne Louisa Emily (died 2 Nov 1877), daughter of Admiral Honour Sir George Cranfield Berkeley (see BERKELEY, B) and widow of V-Adml Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, 1st and last Bt, of the 1806 created (Nelson's Captain of the Fleet at Traf on 2 October 1840. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.
