Biographical Summary

"Charles Erskine [or Arskin], of Alva, 3d but 1st surv. 5. of the Hon. Sir Charles Erskine, of Alva and Cambus Kenneth, by Mary, da. of Sir Thomas Hope, 1st Baronet [S. 1628], of Craighall, which Charles was a yr. s. of John, Earl of Mar [S.], by his 2d wife, Mary, da. of Esme (Stewart), Duke of Lennox .[S.], was b. 4 July 1643 ; suc. his father, 8 July 1663, being served his heir 15 July 1665, and was cr. a Baronet [S.], as above, 30 April 1666, with rem. to the heirs male of his body. He was M.P. [S.] for Clackmannanshire, 1665 and 1667, and for Stirlingshire, 1689 till death in 1690. He m., about 1670, Christian, da. of Sir James Dundas, of Arnistoun. He d. 4 June 1690."
