About Josslyn Hay, 22nd Earl of Erroll

The 22nd Earl of Erroll & Heriditary High Constable of Scotland. In 1923 he married Idina Sackville ('The Bolter') daughter of 8th Earl De La Warr. Together they moved to Kenya and become leaders of the notorious 'Happy Valley Set' where they lived lives of scandalous dilinquency & glamour. They divorced in 1929. Married second time to Mary 'Molly' Ramsey-Hill & returned to live in her home in Kenya A close friend of Sir Oswald Mosley, Hay joined the British Union of Fascists in May 1934 and spearheaded the movement in Kenya with the slogan 'Britain first. Dominions second. Foreigners nowhere'. In January 1941 Hay was found shot to death in his Buick at a crossroads a few miles outside of Nairobi. Sir Jock Delves Broughton (the husband of one of Hay's lovers) was tried & found not guilty of the murder which remains unsolved to this day. Read 'The life & death of Earl Erroll' by Errol Trzebinski (Pub. Fourth Estate, London 2001) which suggests Hay was actually assassinated by British Intelligence. Also 'White Mischief' by James Fox (Pub. Jonathan Cape, London, 1982) and the film of the same name. Buried next to his second wife in St.Paul's Churchyard, Kiambu, Kenya. His brother Gilbert Allan Rowland Boyd, 6th Baron Kilmarnock is buried at Bicester Town Cemetery, England* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Mar 28 2019, 3:35:42 UTC
