Aaron Nathan Cohen, Jr.

Aaron Nathan, Jr. was the son of Aaron Nathan Cohen (the elder) born 1777 in London, England died in Columbia, SC 1862, his first wife was Zipporah (1778-1810), his second Rachel. Aaron Nathan Cohen (the elder) fathered nine children; Aaron Nathan Cohen, Jr. born 1828 was the 7th child.

Aaron Nathan Cohen, Jr presumably born in Charleston, married Frances (Fanny) Cohen of Charleston, in 1850.She was the second daughter of Rev. Hartwig Cohen a native of Poland.Fanny Cohen (1828-1921) had five children; Clara, Nathan A., Isabel A., Hartwig Jr. (born 1856), and Francis, the last two children were born in NY.She was active in many social organizations, including several Hebrew Sunday schools (Old Testament reading) and was the Director of United Hebrew Charities at 154 West 82nd Street, NYC.

Aaron Nathan Cohen (either the father or his son Aaron Nathan, Jr) operated a retail clothing store on King street in Charleston, and the eldest son Nathan A. Cohen owned in partnership with Mr. Leopold Cohn; N. A. Cohen and Co. a "wholesale clothing" business on the bay, in Charleston in mid 1850's.
