Dr. A.G. “Sully” Sullenberger, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, at Camden.
He graduated from Camden High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
He entered the Army in 1943, receiving the Purple Heart for injuries received in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
He entered the University of Arkansas Medical School after returning from the Army, graduating in 1951. He received further training in general and thoracic surgery and opened his practice at Pine Bluff in 1956, where he worked for 31 years.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Dunn Sullenberger, and a son, Edward Sullenberger.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Sullenberger and Tommy Sullenberger, both of Hot Springs; one brother, David Sullenberger of Little Rock; one sister, Betty Jagoditsh of Hot Springs; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating.
