another article on Abel Jannet ..indebted to mr. lupton n e n e lupton of ridgeville for the use of a manuscript on the capture of abel jannet by the indians and his life among the savages on northern ohio in the year 16782. the narrative seemsto have been written orginally by the cpative himself who unlike many if not mosr the white men captured by the indians was not able to write b but was engaged to teach the children of the officers of a grarrison and merchants on an island in canada before his release. the manuscripy to me is not the orginal but a copy by jacob janney who died in warden county at an advanced age are some 30 years old.
