About Abel Johannes Jacobus Erasmus
The Whites of Enkeldoorn 1880-1980 is a history of the families of European descent who settled in the area of Enkeldoorn (renamed Chivi) Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). Author - Sarel van der Walt.
ERASMUS Samuel pre 1895 early settler, he had a large family but details of wife and children not known. He settled on Vroeeveld, (behind Vlakplaas). He produced cattle and wheat Abel (1897 - 1975). Buhera road store keeper on Sabi river, had wheat thrasher as business. The brothers Abel and Buck bought Mexico from Grobbelaar, then sold it to Tom Dreyer. Buck bought Abercorn Ranch from the person who had bought it from Walter Hammond. Samuel settled on Jakkalsbank about 1946 he was returning, by bicycle from Enkeldoorn with a bag of sugar, at the Swart river bridge he fell and was seriously injured. He died before he was found.
