When Abigail Cole was born in 1676/7 in Swansea, Massachusetts, her father, James, was 21, and her mother, Mary, was 17. She married (Captain) John Brown on July 2, 1696, in her hometown. They had six children in 12 years. She died as a young mother on June 26, 1710/11, in Swansea, Massachusetts, at the age of 34.

Research Note No birth or death date has been found for Abigail but a citation [14] was found for her father, a Lt. Cole that had a m. date of ca.1676, to a 'Mary' and which only had 1 child which would suggest that a b. date for Abigail would be ca. 1677 which would make her 18 when she married in 1695. Daughter's birth date in late 1696 would also support this. A death date of 26 June 1710 is also likely as that is the date that son Jeremiah was born and no documented births after that date. Her husband also remarried in 1715.

James Cole and Mary, his wife, of Swansea, by deed dated October 22, 1696, made conveyance to John Brown [IV] of Swansea, wherein is the following recital, "whereas a marriage was solemnized on the second day of July last past between John Brown [IV] of Swanseay, and our dear and only and dutiful daughter Abigail Cole to our good liking and great satisfaction".
