About Abishai Rice
From "A Genealogical History of the Rice Family - Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice" by Andrew Henshaw Ward, A. M., Boston - C. Benjamin Richardson, 1858
Abishai Rice (son of Gershom, grandson of Thomas, great grandson of Edmund), was born 16 Oct 1701, Groton, CT. He married Frances Rice (daughter of James, granddaughter of Thomas, great granddaughter of Edmund), born 6 Mar 1702/3, Marlborough, MA, and resided at Worcester. They had 9 children recorded there, after which they moved away, tradition says to Greenwich, CT; there is no record of them there.
Jotham Rice and his brothers, Zebadiah, Tyrus and Jessaniah, conveyed 4 Dec 1734 "100 acres of land in Worcester to our brother-in-law, Abishai Rice, who married our sister, Frances Rice; which land was the homestead of our Honored Father, in part, and partly land of our late brother, James Rice, deceased."
