(roughly translated)
Some of the Benedikt family settled in Hustopeče after "emancipation" in 1848.
This branch was derived from Markus Benedikt/Benet's son, Naftali, who was a rabbi and a representative of the rabbinical college of the Jewish community of Šafov. In subsequent generations, then male names of the genus traded the names of Markus (according to Benet's official name)and Naftali.
Naftali's sons, Jochanan and Samuel, continued the family tradition of proper religious education, and both went to school in Bratislava, led by the famous Rabbi Chatam Sofer. But, despite the fact that they were certified to practice the rabbinical profession, they did not pursue it,even though their family had a deep religious consciousness.
Samuel (full name Abraham Šemuel) was born in 1813; he married Katharina Böhmer of Podivin. Their family belonged to the longest settled in Hustopeče. Benedict owned house no. 91 in Horní Panská Street (today Smetana), in the yard of which a Jewish prayer house was run till 1880. Samuel died on 7 March 1875 in Hustopeče at the age of 62 and as Benet's grandson was buried on the rabbinic hill in Mikulov.
In granddaughter, Emma Böck's memoir it is stated that Samuel was in Hustopeče before emancipation, after 1848 he had to resettle to Velke Pavlovice, where "he had a nice house with a garden and a well-stocked store."

Articles about a horrendous axe attack in the Gross Pawlowitz home of the BENEDIKTS on 2 March 1865, in which mother Katharina and two of her daughters were badly injured and the family business book keeper Samuel Hochfeld killed (the father Samuel Benedikt was away at the time).
The assailant - and murderer - a 26 year-old named Franz Melichar, who lived locally - had been seemingly upset by not receiving the right amount of change but admitted after arrest that he had wanted "to kill a Jew". The account also offers interesting information on the Benedikt business - apparently a mix between a shop and an inn - and the ages of the three daughters present at the scene - Rosa 20, Minna 17, Betti 14. The women all showed great courage in the circumstances and all survived their injuries, though Rosa's were life-threatening.
