ABRAHAM UNGER October 24, 1937- April 3, 2008 Peacefully, on April 3, 2008, Abraham Unger passed away at Stonewall Hospital at the age of 70. Abe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, his three daughters, Debbie, Connie and Terry, his seven grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, James, Colleen, Jessica, Rebecca and John, great-grandchild, Tegan, sisters Etta, Martha, Ruth, Barb, brother Bill. Abe was predeceased by his father Jacob, mother Katherine, and sisters Eva, Gertrude and Hanna. Abe was a journeyman pressman for 36 years. His career took him to newspapers across Canada, starting in MB, then BC, ON, QC and he finished his career as a pressman at the Winnipeg Free Press in 2001. Abe was very talented and also found work as a mechanic and carpenter. Throughout Abe's life, he had many interests. He was a trainer for the PCO's, lacrosse team in ON. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, cook (Abe made the world's best farmer sausage), gardener, and bird watcher. Abe's most special friend was his dog, Duke, who could always be seen at his side even when Abe's health turned poor. A Memorial service celebrating Abe's life will be held on Monday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB. Reception to follow at the Stonewall Legion. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Stonewall Hospital for their compassion and support during Abe's brief battle with lung cancer.
