Note that Ada was baptised as an adult. Her younger sisters were baptised just after birth, but for some unknown reason both Ada and her sister Sarah were not baptised, and had to do so when they were adults, presumably so they could get married.
It is not clear when Ada left St Helena, but was sometime between Dec 1887 and Aug 1894 (possibly 1892). Her sister Sarah had gone out in 1874 on board the "Ocean Ranger" to work as a servant for a Mr Young. The Ellis family she married into were on the same ship.
There is an Ann Henry who is a witness to Ada's marriage to Hans Petersen, so this is presumably her mother, so she must have gone to South Africa possibly with Ada as her husband Samuel had died on St Helena in 1892.
She apparently insisted that her grandchildren call her "Ma".
