Adam's real mom Mary died from TB when Adam and his sister eve "eva" was very young.. his father raised them very strictly abiding by the 7th day adventist standards.
He then married my "Nana" Adlaide Bettencourt daSilva and had children she would of had 20 children but lost lots of them from miscarriages. They did "Hanai" one child from the Hinch Family - Libert daSilva when he was 2 hrs old. The family owned property up in Punchbowl (This Property was given to them by Adams Father they squaded the land and paid $7.50 a year to the government) They also got permission from (Army National Guard) to raise livestock... where they raised Cattle and numerous other livestock : Pigs,goats,chickens,turkeys,pidgeons, and honey bees (which was his fathers bees) the children all helped making portuguese sausage as well as helping with the livestock and land.. The girls worked hard making bread in an old Portuguese oven that was on the propety..he had took over the property from his father when the father remarried and moved to Hawaiian Homestead.
Adam Dias daSilva did own a grocery store and during the war helped people by giving them loans to purchase food and after they paid back with small percentage.
Adam Dias daSilva was a hard working man he also was a "Junk Man" in which he took scrap metal and sold it.. When the government took over the land in punchbowl he then bought property in Kailua where he and his family stayed.
Grandpa was a VERY strong man .. If he didn't break his hip he would of probably still went on 10 yrs ..He was still doing roofing repairs and lifting refrigerators in his 80's.. Grandpa loved his Olive Oil he poured it on everything he ate and used it for his skin and hair..

Libert was hanai'd (adopted) by Mr & Mrs Adam Dias daSilva when Libert was 2hrs old (verificatin from Adam B daSilva = brother or Libert & son of Adam D daSilva) The Hinch family had many children and couldn't afford more at the time and wanted a better life for Libert. |
