Mother Elizabeth Jones. Age 47, born about 1834 at Ninebanks, Northumberland, England. (Scottish border.)

Parish Darlington.

Adam workingPlater Bridge yard(Iron).

Also in residence=Margaret Anne Hope 12, Albert S Jones 7,and Edmound N Jones 6.

In 1887 December, age 26 he emigrated to New Zealand. In 1887 he worked as a pork butcher journeyman. In 1908 age 47 in Petone , he was a grocer. He also worked as a woolblender.

Both Adam Pearson and his wife Rebecca Anne had to nbe carriers of a very rare genetic disorder, Primary Ciliary Diskinesia ({PCD) previously known as Immotile Ciliary Diskinesia. The cilia (hairs) in their airways do not work properly - see further info on this in their son Cecil's notes. About 50% of children born to two carriers will get this condition (have chronic chest infections - and usually cannot have children because of no cilia in their fallopian tubes, or men in their reproduction area, but it doesn't always mean men are infertile as sometimes the cilia there are working.) Children of carriers that do not get PCD can still be carrierss, and pass it on, but unless they marry another carrier their children will not gret PCD, only be carriers. This couple both were carriers, had 12 children, 4 of whom who died - almost certain that they had PCD, as the 50% would have been 6 children, I therefore wonder if other of the menfolk who died relatively early could have had PCD. Would be interesting to know if they had chronic chest infections! If any of their descendents know of their dad/grandad in this line that were like this please let me know. I am Bevelyn O'Donnell, daughter of their youngest, Malcolm Hope. ( bevalec@xtra.co.nz) would love to hear from you.
