About Reverend Adam Perry
Adam was the only child of James and Anne's to be mentioned in Adam Swift's will in 17041. In it, Adam received £50. He was the first son of James' to go to Trinity College in Dublin, age 17 in late 17162. He was awarded a scholarship in 1719 and received a degree of Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Easter in 1721. He then continued his studies and received his Bachelor of Divinity (BD) degree to be a minister and when he finished his schooling at Easter in 17483, he became a Doctor of Divinity (DD). During his later years in College, Adam was a Schoolmaster at Trinity. He had spent over thirty years in college, which is far more than any of his brothers. While in Trinity College, Adam met and later married Anne Phipps of Dublin. They were married at St. Bridget's, Dublin, Ireland on October 16, 17254. They had at least one son, whose name was Charles. Charles also attended Trinity College5. Adam and Anne may have also had a son named Adam who lived in Moira, where Adam Sr. is said by some to have spent his later years. Adam and Anne Perry apparently stayed in Ireland and may have had several children and grandchildren. There were several Adam Perry's that lived in the area and one or two may have come to America. Adam is listed in his father's will in 17536. No records thereafter refer to Adam directly, but there is a death record of Adam Perry who died in Moira, Down, Ireland in 17737. That Adam, listed as a merchant, was probably Adam son of Swift Perry and not the Reverend Adam Perry. www.Perryresearch.net
