- Adele J. Clement arrived in the United States on 15Nov 1908. From New York City she went to Derby, CT where her sister Theone Clement Tennury, already was living. In 1910 she is listed as living with a family in New Haven, CT and working as their maid. In 1912 she moved to Chicago, IL where she married Anton Hants Peld on 25Jun1912. Anton was born 16Apr1880 in Arensburg, Saaremaa Island, Estonia. He was a cabinet maker for a railroad line and died 13Oct1949. Their first child, Harry Theodore (my father-in-law) was born 24Jul1913 in Chicago and died 23Dec1986. They then moved to Milwaukee, WI where they had twins, Edgar Clement and Edna Theone Peld on 07May1920. Edgar died 03Jul1986, Edna died in infancy 26Jun1920. They had daughter Frieda in 1922. she died in 1958. Adele and Anton spent the rest of their lives in Milwaukee where she died 21Oct1960. Harry and his wife Bernice Margaret Ziegert had 3 children, Valerie (10Jul1943 - 18Apr2020), Virginia (b.1945) and Daniel Brian (11Nov1949-17Nov2001), my husband. Edgar had 2 daughters, Diane and Shirley; Frieda had 3 daughters, Carol, Joanne and Wendy. Harry knew nothing about his parents history other than a story that Anton had to leave Estonia due to his involvement in a student uprising (?) which could explain why I discovered he arrived in the US from Finland under an assumed name.
