About Adolph Abraham Vygoda וויגאדא
Was brought over to the USA from Hungary by his brother in 1940. One of the few family members Shmuel was able to smuggle out of Europe as the continent plunged into hell. Adolph once owned a department store in Budapest but he had to settle for a job as a tailor for a Congregation in Washington D.C.
Avraham or Adolf was probably the older of the two brothers although Shmuel always insisted that he had the birthright.
Be it as it may, eventually Abraham left his humble beginnings as a refugee tailor and was able to assume a position of Cantor. He performed in concerts in Israel as well, although he never achieved the fame that his brother did. Probably to avoid conflict Adolf spelled his name 'vygoda' rather than 'vigoda'.
Stayed in touch with his Weisberger relatives in Cleveland. See here http://digital.olivesoftware.com/Olive/APA/ClevelandJewishNewsFree/... _______ Listen to him perform Ata Yotzarto here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px9cLxmx2Q4
