Adolph E. Kampa

INDEPENDENCE, Wis. - Adolph E. Kampa, 83, of Independence died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.
He was born March 2, 1920, in Trempealeau County, to Mike and Anna (Woychik) Kampa. He married Angeline Sluga on April 16, 1940, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. She died Nov. 28, 1993. Adolph worked for the Trempealeau County Highway Department for 29 years, retiring in 1989. Adolph also was a lifelong farmer in Chimney Rock Township. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include three children, Adolph A. Kampa Jr. of Independence, Shirley Becker of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Dennis (Louanne) Kampa of Independence; two sisters, Matilda Anderson of Eleva and Monica Mish of Independence; a brother, Lawrence (Rose) Kampa of New Orleans, La.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson.
Adolph was preceded in death by his wife and a sister, Rose Sura.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday followed by a rosary.
