About Adolph Zimmern
Adolph Zimmern was a Jewish merchant and banker in Heidelburg, Germany. He bought his "civil rights" in 1821. He was the first Jewish politicians in Heidelberg in the 1830s. There was an attempt to storm his house in the 1848 anti-Jewish riots. He was one of two delegates sent by the Association for German customs union, a union of industrialists, merchants and bankers in Frankfurt that same year. The two delegates were supposed to register their interests and take primarily on the economic impact committee. He was perceived as too conciliatory, and not "revolutionary" enough, so he lost is position in 1949.
