OBITUARY

MISS AGNES DORA CLERK

Word has been received from England by cablegram of the death of Miss Agnes Dora Clerk. Miss Clerk was a daughter of the late Mr. Robert Clerk, who managed Malahide, at Flngai, for the late Lord Talbot, and when he retired to reside in Hobart was a Commissioner of Escheat, and for some years Sergeant-at-Arms at the House of Assembly. Her eldest brother saw much service in the English Army, and survives her. Another brother was the late Mr. C. S. Clerk, a prominent solicitor in Hobart, and the other surviving brother lives in West Australia. A nephew, Colonel Guy Wylly, late of the Indian Army, was the first Tasmanian to win the V.C. in the South African War.

Miss Clerk resided for some years at Westerway (T.), where she was highly respected, and did much work for the Red Cross Society during the war years.. Before - going to live with relatives in England, she lived at Burford, Sandy Bay, and was of a most charitable dis- position. A devout member of the Church of England, she worshipped at the Cathedral, to which she presented the Dean's stall. A large circle of friends will regret her death.
