Agnes McClung

Agnes Logan was born at Meikle in Shallock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 11 November 1857. She married Gilbert Edward McClung at Lagg on 23 November 1877. The following year they emigrated to New Zealand with other settlers for Katikati on board the Lady Jocelyn, arriving in Auckland on 17 August 1878. Agnes served as a midwife in the Katikati area. She would stay in the home for a couple of weeks looking after the new mother and baby along with doing the housework and cooking for a fee of three guineas. According to his headstone at Katikati Cemetery, Gilbert died on 10 June 1897. Agnes died at Katikati on 22 December 1910 and was buried with Gilbert in Katikati Cemetery.
