A BIG THANK YOU TO F.A.G. MEMBER ROBIN PAGE FOR SPONSORING THIS MEMORIAL! ;D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some people are disputing the assertion that Emily "Millie" was the daughter of Edward Polly.

In his pension application, Edward Polly stated that he had twelve children and then proceeded to name them. He did not name an Emily or Millie.

The source for Emily being a Polly and daughter of Edward is Oliver Stamper's book "Descendants of James Stamper" written in the 1940's. He offered no proof or documentation.

Some researchers have concluded that Emily was actually a Whitaker. William Stamper and Emily's oldest son John Whit Stamper is referred to in early Perry Co., Kentucky court records as John Whitaker Stamper.

The name Millie is found throughout the Whitaker line, but not among the Polly descendants of Letcher Co., KY.

Some years ago, a lady wrote about this and the DAR had denied her admission through this line because there was insufficient evidence that Emily Stamper, wife of William, was the daughter of Edward Polly.
