    Agnes de St. John was born in 1275 at Basing, Hampshire, England.2 She was the daughter of John de St. John and Alice FitzPiers.1 She married Sir Hugh de Courtenay, 1st Earl of Devon, son of Sir Hugh de Courtenay and Eleanor le Despencer, in 1292.1 She died on 11 June 1345.1
    From 1292, her married name became de Courtenay. As a result of her marriage, Agnes de St. John was styled as Countess of Devon on 22 February 1334/35.
