About Aimé Ferdinand J. Fiola
My brother Aimé was born prematurely at home in Rosewood, Manitoba while Papa was attending Sunday mass. As soon as he got back home, Papa picked up Mrs. Greene, the local midwife and nurse.
Aimé and I attended Rosewood School. In 1953 our family moved to Sainte-Geneviève. By then, Aimé quit school to help with the farmwork. He earned his living with the firewood he chopped and sold. Later, he operated a caterpillar owned by J-P Lansard during the summer and worked as a lumberjack in the winter.
He married Simone Boily of La Broquerie. They lived for a short while in a small house he had built and moved on a piece of property that was given to him by our Dad. After the birth of their first child, the family moved to La Broquerie where he soon built a large 3-bedroom house with attached garage. He owned and operated the local garage. After selling his business, he was employed by the La Broquerie Municipality where he operated Grader (road maintenance).
Aimé and Simone both died in a head-on collision while travelling with his parents, Joseph Fiola and Madeleine Ledet while on a trip to Québec..
Aimé and Simone raised four children. After the 1975 loss of both their parents, they continued living in the family home along with their caregivers, their aunt Antoinette Boily, their uncle Jean-Paul Bissonnette and their three cousins.
