Alberic de Montmorency, Vicomte d'Orléans

Albéric Ier de Montmorency Connétable du roi Henri Ier vers 1060. Fils de Bouchard († 987), seigneur de Bray-sur-Seine et de Hildegarde de Blois, fille de Thibaud le Tricheur († 975), comte de Blois, de Chartres, de Châteaudun et de Tours, nous connaissons Albéric Ier grâce au fait que son sceau apparaît (avec de nombreux autres) au bas de la charte de fondation (par Henri Ier) de l'église de Saint-Martin-des-Champs.

Il n'a sans doute aucun rapport avec Albéric Clément qui sera maréchal de France en 1191 (si ce n'est l'homonymie de prénom). Il est en revanche le premier connétable de France et le premier de la maison de Montmorency. C'est par son nom que l'on fait généralement commencer la liste des connétables de France, et ce depuis le XVIIIe siècle. Cependant, si ce sceau atteste d'un certain rôle administratif, rien n'indique encore la militarisation de l'office. Il édifia le château des Aulnays (Torcé-en-Vallée).

Alberic I of Montmorency, Constable of King Henry I to 1060. He is probably unrelated Alberic Clement, marshal of France in 1191 (if not the first name disambiguation). However, he is the first constable of France and the first of the house of Montmorency. It is by his name that generally we do start the list constables of France since the eighteenth century. However, if this seal certifies a certain administrative role, there is still no indication of the militarization of the office. He built the castle of Aulnays (Torcé-en-Vallée).
