PATEROS _ Bert M. Sandy, 74, Pateros, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1993, in the Lake Chelan Community Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1918, in Covert, Kan., the son of Albert and Eva (Mason) Sandy. He graduated from Covert High School in 1937 and moved with his family to Fruitland, Idaho, in 1938 and later to Nyssa, Ore. Mr. Sandy joined the U.S. Air Force in 1940. He served in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in 1946 and returned to Nyssa. He married Leona Willis on April 16, 1950, in Winnemucca, Nev. They farmed in Oregon and Idaho until 1965, when they moved to Pateros. He worked on construction jobs and at Wells Dam. Mr. Sandy was a member of the Methow Evangelical Methodist Church and Gideons International. He served two years on the Pateros City Council, was on the board of Okanogan County Economic Development, and was a building project manager for Pateros, Mansfield, Manson and Chelan school districts. Survivors include his wife, at the home; two sons, Ryan and Ray, both of Pateros; a daughter, Connie Darbin, Caldwell, Idaho; a sister, Frances Gregg, Santa Maria, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
