Alec Mendelson, 87, midtown Kansas City, a lawyer, died Aug. 16, 1991, at Menorah Medical Center.
Mr. Mendelson practiced law in this area since 1929, and had an office in the Lathrop Building. He was a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Missouri Bar, and was a national commitee member of the American Bar Association.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, the Theodore Hertzl Club, and the Jewish Community Center. He was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was a member of the Oakwood Country Club.
He graduated from the Kansas City School of Law in 1928, and was a member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Alumni Association. He was born in London, and lived in St. Joseph before he moved to Kansas City in 1912. Survivors include a son, Jerrold D. Mendelson, Lenexa; a sister, Esther Mallin, Leawood; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Louis Chapel; burial in Sheffield Cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
