Alexander Cummings

Veteran of war of 1812, took part in the efforts to capture Florida for the United States, by building a frontier road and a string of forts from Tampa Bay to the St. Johns River, Historic Fort Cummings near Lake Alfred in Polk County, Florida was named after him by one of his officers.
