6 September 1662: BIRTH BRIEVE with the authority of the Privy Council in favour of Adam Cunningham (who is intending to travel to Germany), certifying that the late Adam Cunnyngham, a lieutenant of a company of soldiers in Germany, the father of Adam Cunningham, the bearer of these presents, is descended from Alexander Cunningham of Cullelan in Scotland, and Joanna Maxwell, daughter of the baron of Newark, his father and mother ; and the late Alexander Cunnynghame of Cullellan, and Issobella Mure, daughter of (Sir) Adam Mure, knight of Rowallan, his granfather and grandmother ; and the late Sir William Cunnyngham of Capringtoun, baron and knight (whose fourth son the said Sir Alexander was), and Jonet Hamiltoun, daughter of Sir William (Hamilton) of Sarn, knight his great-grandfather and great-grandmother ; and that the said lord of Capringtoun and his progemitors come of the very noble and powerful family of William, Earl of Glencairne, Lord Cunyngham and Kilmaweris, the chief of the family of Cunnunghame, and chancellor of Scotland.
