Biographical Summary
"(333b) Alexander Hamilton of Dechmont, Linlithgow, and Pencaitland, died 21st March 1758. Will recorded 17th August 1758 (Edinburgh). He was served heir to John Hamilton of Dechmont 22nd June 1714; to his brother, John Hamilton, 7th April 1724; to his uncle, Daniel Hamilton, 19th May 1743; and to his father 30th January 1757. He married Mary, daughter of Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, Bt. She died 24th February 1772.
ARMS of Pencaitland. — Gules, a chevron betweenn three cinquefoils ermine. [Plate IV., fig. 13.] CREST : An arm issuing out of a cloud holding a pen. MOTTO : Tain virtute quam labore " (House of Hamilton).
He left an only cliild : — Mary Hamilton."
