The founder of the Plumley Family in America was Alexander. He was in the employ of Willim a Colburn of Boston, MA, and was probably in his employ when he arrived here from England. O n 26 Aug 1639, he had a land grant at Mt. Wollaston (now Braintree) for three heads where h e setttled and in 1663 became one of the original proprietors of Mendon, as stated by Savage . "If he went thither, he must have left with other settlers during King Philip's War." Hi s will was dated 8 Mar 1682 at Braintree, MA. The will was proved 30 Mar 1681/82. He bequeathed to his wife Hester and children.
