Alice Mae Hallett

The funeral service for Alice Hallet of rural Verndale was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Verndale, with Pastor Daryl Jacobson presiding.

Surrounded by family, Alice passed away at her home in rural Verndale, on August 11, 2012, at the age of 70 years, under the care of Lakewood Hospice.

Alice Mae Hallett was born to Albert B. and Alice O. (Haugen) Kasper on December 17, 1941 in Orange Township, Adams County, ND. She attended high school in Sebeka, MN. Alice married Lloyd "Barney" William Hallett on October 23, 1959, at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale. While raising their family, she worked for Moyers Potatoes, Olson Potatoes, and Heimbuch Potatoes for many years, along with seasonal work at Bedoura State Nursery and WATCO Publishing for over 10 years. When away from work she liked to fish, although she didn't like to clean them or eat them! Spare hours were used to read, knit, crochet, care for her houseplants, and play Bingo.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; parents Albert and Alice; and sisters Lillian (Ed) Zink and Annabelle Kasparek. She is survived by her daughters Phyllis (Robert) Umland, Lila Weaver and Lee Hallett all of Verndale; six grandchildren & three great-grandchildren; brothers Alfred (Linda) Kasper, Joseph Kasper, Jack (Carol) Kasper, and Steve (Vicki) Kasper; and sisters Adeline (Marvin) Griffith and Mabel (Aris) Kotek.

Honorary pallbearers were Alice's living brothers & sisters, and best friend Lois Kern.

Pallbearers were Jacob Umland, Nathan Umland, Cory Umland, Jessica Weaver, Janessa Weaver, and Kohl Hallett.

Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Verndale.
