Alice Marguerite Anderson was born July 7, 1912, to Tennis and Amelia Bertness of rural Rembrandt. She attended grade school and high school in Rembrandt, graduating in 1929. She attended Buena Vista College for one year and during this period she met Oscar G. (Ossie) Anderson.
Ossie and Alice were married July 21, 1934 at Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Church. They lived for several years in the tenant house on the Bertness home place. In 1939 they moved to a farm in rural Sioux Rapids. In 1952 they returned to the home farm place near Rembrandt, living there until Ossie's retirement in 1973, when they moved their present home in Rembrandt. Alice was a housewife and mother to daughters, Judy and Jeanette. She was a charter member and active in the "Stitch and Chatter Club" for over 50 years. She was baptized, confirmed and was a faithful life long member of Little Sioux Valley and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, helped with many Mother-Daughter Banquets, Altar Guild and was active in Ladies Aid and Circle Bible Study.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Mildred Sewalson of Linn Grove and Geneva Bertness.
