Alice Mary Crookenden emigrated from England with her parents and 2 older sisters when she was only 1 year old. They traveled aboard the "Avon" out of London, arriving 2 Jun 1870 in the port of Quebec Canada. The 1871 census lists this family living in Yorkville, York East, Ontario.

Alice Mary’s first husband was a young physician with the distinguished name of Dr Newton Erastus CORNELL. They were married 20 Nov 1889 in Thedford, Lambton Ontario, and just over a year later on 4 Dec 1890 he had the misfortune of being killed “by a stray bullet while attending a medical convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan” [ref. Find A Grave Memorial# 11489905]. He was only 25 years old. Eight months later in1891, Alice Mary gives birth to a daughter who she names Alice Newton CORNELL, no doubt to commemorate her husband and their very short union.

Her daughter Alice Jr was raised in part by the maternal grandparents John and Anne CROOKENDEN [ref. 1901 Canada census for Thedford Village, Ontario]. But like her father, Alice Jr had a relatively short life, first marrying Charles Joseph REMINGTON in 1911 in Sarnia Ontario, and second to Frederick W LAWLESS in 1924 in Detroit Michigan. I have found two children by her first marriage: Jack E (17) and Mary Louise (13) REMINGTON [Ref 1930 US Federal Census in Detroit.] Alice Jr died there on 4 Sep 1930 from cancer and blood loss during surgery. She was only 39 years old.

Alice Mary was a twenty four year old widow from Thedford Ontario, when she married Louis Edward living in nearby Bosanquet, in 1893. Her parents were witnesses at the wedding, and no Richardsons mentioned.

Louis and Alice RICHARDSON had 2 children while on a sojourn in England: Maude in 1897 and Leo R in 1900. By 1901 the family was back in Canada, living in Watford Village, Lambton East, Ontario. Both children lived long lives, however Maude never married and Leo was buried with his sister so may not have married either. It seems quite possible that neither of them had any children.

Alice Mary died in 1922 in Detroit at the age of 54 from pernicious anemia (such a shame as this is now quite preventable).
