  • In the similar pedigree in 16 Harl. Soc. p. 212, the first Robert Morton's wife is given as the daughter of Kynaston of Nottingham; Elizabeth Morton's husband as Laxton; and Isabel Morton's husband as Halsworth.
  • The will of Robert de Morton of Bawtry, proved 9th November 1396, is printed in Test. Ebor. vol. i. p. 210; and that of his son Robert, proved 5th October, 1424, Ibid. p. 408. The latter Robert is possibly the first Robert of the pedigree; the will mentions his wife Katherine, and his sons Charles and Robert.
  • The will of Nicholas Morton of Bawtry was proved 28th October, 1515. Wills in the York Registry, 1514 to 1553, p. 229. The reference to his inq. p.m. is 7 Hen. VIII. Chancery Series II. Vol. 30, no. 35.
  • The reference to the inq. p.m. of Charles Morton, son of Nicholas, is 1 and 2 Ph. and M. Chancery Series II. vol. 102, no 44. The reference to that of his son, Robert is 18 Elizabeth, Chancery Series II. Vol. 173, no. 67; and to that of his son Thomas, 16 Elizabeth, Chancery Series II. vol. 275, no 230.
  • Charles Morton and Matilda his wife were deforciants to a fine concerning land in Conisburg in 1529, and to a fine concerning land in Tickhill in 1538; and Charles and Robert his son were parties to another fine in 1544; Robert was also party to fines in 1567 and 1576. John Morton, Robert Morton, and Anthony Morton (with Mary his wife), sons of the above Robert Morton, were parties to various fines concerning property in Bawtry, Tickhill, etc., between 1575 and 1600.
