Althea's family was said to be Welsh, there were several Fosters in the Baltimore/Harford County area. It appears that her maiden name was Smith and that her first husband's sur name was Foster. She was Solomon Brown's second wife and had four children, twins Huldah, and Margaret b. 1782, Samuel b. 1785, and Martha b. 1787.
