About Allan Matthew Kaartinen
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/195900851/allan-mathew-kartinen:
Allan was born in Port Arthur to Peter and Alma Kartinen. He spent most of his life here and attended Port Arthur Technical Institute (Hillcrest High). He served overseas in the RCAF during the Second World War. After the war, he married Phyllis Smith and together they raised their family. He was involved in the Port Arthur Figure Skating Club for years and served as President. He also was a judge for the CFSA. He coached little league baseball and belonged to many service organizations over the years. Allan worked for Abitibi Pulp and Paper here until 1970 when he was transferred to Abitibi Head Office in Toronto. He resided in Toronto until his retirement in 1996. He then returned to Thunder Bay where he remarried his first wife Phyllis and they spent several wonderful years together traveling and enjoying their family. Allan enjoyed the time he spent with his "pool buddies" at Maple Crest Towers. He was the most encouraging and doting father, grandfather and great grandfather that one could ever hope for. He especially enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with his great-granddaughter Maia and always enjoyed being the patient when his great-grandson Noah wanted to play doctor. They always could make him chuckle. He will be greatly loved and missed and always remembered.
Allan is survived by his wife Phyllis, sister Aili Rinne, daughter Candace Logozzo (Joe), son Richard (Cathy), step-daughter Joanne Harbluk (Ian Lorimer), grandchildren; Jason Logozzo, Nicole Lehto (Eric), Andrew Logozzo, Shannon Kartinen, and Anna Lorimer and great-grandchildren; Maia and Noah Lehto. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his second wife June, his brother Henry and grandson Adam.
