About Allen Agnew
From list of genealogy names by Agnes Faris Agnew:
Agnew, Allen born: 1800 in Ohio or Penn.
Married Mathilda Sears
Died: 1866, Makanda, Ill.
(Ginny) I have a theory about this:
fact: in 1850 Allen's wife was Eleanor.
fact: in 1860 Eleanor Agnew was in a home for the insane in Hamilton County, OH while Allen was living in Il with Archibald.
fact: Mathilda Sears was married to Joseph Sears in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census.
If you read bio Gran (Agnes) wrote about T. Lee Agnew, you find that he and his father had little or no contact after T. Lee and Agnes married. If you read bio for Francis Marion Agnew, you find he was very much in control of his household.
I believe that Eleanor and Matilda were sisters - both children of John and Eleanor Sutton. Francis Marion and his aunt Matilda exchanged letters and Harriet believed that they were from his mother instead of his aunt.
After Francis Marion died, T. Lee and Agnes (and family) visited Harriet. Gran's information most likely came from Harriet or Jennie (Agnew) Roberts.
