In a family history written by a great, great, great, great grandaughter, Juliann Schuirian, it states:

"Allen Fox...enlisted in the Revolutionary war in 1775 at the first call for troops. He was at Ticonderoga and Crown Point. At the end of this service, he enlisted "for the war" and was assigned to the 7th Conn. line and accredited to Cornwall, Conn. He was presemt at Germantown, Valley Forge, Monmouth and Stony Point. In 1783, he was transferred to theSecond Conn. Line and was mustered out at West Point in June of 1783. He received his appointment as Colonel from General George Washington. He was urged by the President to stay with the army after the war, but went to New York State, Delaware and Kortright Township and bought land after 8 years of service. There is also, in one of the historical museums, a parchment paper given to him for long and faithful service signed by President Washington. ...Pension No. 1826..."

From "Thomas Fox of Concord and His Descendants", by William F. Fox (1909):

"Allen was mustered out in 1782, his parchment discharge signed by General Washington and General Jonathan Trumball, staing that he was entitled to the 'Badge of Merit' for his long and meritorious service."

In the "FOX FAMILY" compiled by George henry Fox, it states: "His military weight was 250 pounds, height in stocking feet 6 ft. 2 in."

Taken from Abstract of Session Minutes

Gilchrist Memorial Presbyterian Church

Town of Kortright, Delaware County New York

3 November 1806 - 2 October 1865

"FOX, Allen 4 May 1807, was elected a Ruling Elder "in this congregation" [Kortright?] but it was mutually decided by Fox and the Session "to postpone further dealing with him until next meeting"

From a Jeremiah Palmer at jpalmer13@nc.rr.com

"Just wanted to mention that Allen Fox and family including Amasa Fox (son) is mentioned in the newer book Two Hundred Years of Rolling Suns by Bernice Telian Historian of Meredith town in Delaware Co.

"Also Amasa lived on the corner of Palmer Hill where I grew up years ago and I am certain that he is buried in the Meridale (Meredith Hollow was the old name) cemetery where a friend and I used to clean and mow (again some time ago). My father spoke of him but think that was because his family knew him. Perhaps there were some children or other relatives."
