The following obituary for Mrs. Elmina Thorpe Wells appeared in the May 2, 1929, Salt Lake Telegram Newspaper: Mrs. Elmina Wells Dies of Pneumonia....Mrs. Elmina Thorpe Wells, 63, died Thursday afternoon at a local hospital from pneumonia contracted following an operation a few days ago for bad tonsils. Mrs. Wells was the wife of Bishop John Wells of the presiding bishopric of the LDS Church. She was born in England and came to the United States forty years ago. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, John T. Wells of Salt Lake City and Louis Wells, who is serving a mission in the eastern states, and three daughters, Mrs. Mabel W. James, Mrs. Florence Knowleton and Mrs. Teresa Cook, all of Salt Lake.
