Allie Nieters, 90, formerly of Rockville, MN died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at St. Benedict Senior Community Center.
Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. TODAY, Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, 1900 Veterans Drive (8th Street North) St. Cloud. The Rosary will be said and Rockville Fire Department will offer a prayer at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the funeral home, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Rockville. Full Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 428 at the cemetery.
Allie was born to the late Bernard and Mary (Jasken) Nieters in Rockville Township. He was a polisher with the Granite Company. Allie was in the U.S. Army and served from October 8, 1942 until July 17, 1944. He received an Honorable Discharge. He married Loraine Louise Schneider in Rockville, MN on September 2, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church They were married 53 years when Loraine died on February 20, 2002. He owned a fuel station, Nieters Oil/Deep Rock in Rockville and also delivered fuel to many homes and businesses in the area. The gas station also had a restaurant, The Stumble-In, in its early years and a bait shop which was known also among local and visiting fishermen. The Gas & Bait is still in existence today.
Allie was a staunch Roman Catholic who defended the True church so it could continue, as centuries prior, to extend unchanged for the next generations. His conservative support extended to our Country and protecting our original U.S. Constitution.
Allie was a Knight of the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta. He was a member of the American Legion, Waite Park, a Fireman with the Rockville Fire Department, and Mayor of Rockville from 1956 – 1967 when he moved out of the city and into the Rockville Township. He loved his hometown and supported it.
Allie is survived by his children, Dianne (Leonard) Justin of Albany, Karen (Edward) Spillers of St. Joseph, Linda (Russell) Voight of Cold Spring, Cynthia (Thomas) Corrieri of St. Joseph, Julie (Joseph) Karsky of Freeport and Annette (David) Heinen of Cold Spring; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine; infant daughter, Bonita; siblings, Marie (Aloysius) Maselter, Rose (Nick) Weisman, John (Ruth) Nieters, Theresia (Ben) Karls, Susan (Albert) Karls, Bernard "Ben" (Cleopha) Nieters, Herman "Hermie" (Caroline) Nieters, William "Willie" (Charlotte) Nieters, Veronica Nieters, Margaret (Francis "Bandi") Thole, Theodore "Ted" (Angeline "Angie") Nieters.
