Alvah Kelley

Alvah Kelley was the son of W.P. and Mexico (Ollis) Kelley. He was united in marriage to Martha Collier in 1928, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 1994. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William Ray and Sandra Kelley of St. Peters, MO and Carl and Myrtle Kelley of Goreville; 5 grandchildren, Allen Kelley, Karen Woods, Brian Kelley, Diane Mayfield and Steven Kelley; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Orpha Corzine of Goreville. In addition to his parents and wife, Alvah was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sam and Noel. Alvah was a retired farmer. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and corresponding with family and friends. He attended the Goreville First Baptist Church. Alvah was a graduate of Brown's Business College in Marion. He was a former Cana Grade School Board member, Goreville High School Board member, Johnson Co. ASCS Board member and a long-time member of the Cana Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Goreville Chapter 1009 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Saline Masonic Lodge 339 AF&AM, where he served as Lodge secretary for more than 25 years.
