Alvin Hubbard, 87, of Clark, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at his home in Clark.
Alvin Worth Hubbard was born Sep 4, 1914 in Lodgepole, SD to Charley and Mila (Smith) Hubbard. Alvin lived in Perkins Co. in western SD with his parents until 1936 when he and his parents moved to Clark, Co. Alvin married Ruth Woodland on Sept 5, 1939 in Clark at Ruth's parents home. Following their marriage, the couple farmed with Alvin's father south of Clark until fire destroyed their home. At that time, the couple moved to a farm in Woodland Twp. and resided there until moving to Clark in 1964. Alvin did custom hay baling and cultivated home gardens. He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his garden. He sold his produce in Clark to the school and to the residents. Alvin did lots of woodworking, and enjoyed going to various arts and craft shows in the area to sell his wood products and visit with other participants, and patrons.
Alvin was a very active baptized and confirmed member of the United Methodist Church in Clark. He sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a greeter for the Sunday School children.
Mr Hubbard was on the Board of Directors for ICAP/Green Thumb.
Alvin is survived by his wife-Ruth of Clark; 8 children-Dennis & Terry Hubbard of Dawson, MN; Sharon Downs of Scottsbluff, NE; David & Anita Hubbard of Oceanside, CA; Bill Hubbard of Rosemont, MN; Charlotte & Roger Davidson of Bryant, SD; Dorothy & Larry Smith of Boise, ID; Linda Harmon of Sidney, NE; Mary Hubbard of Watertown; 22 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister- Marjory Bjugan of Roslyn, SD.
