About Alvin House Morey, MD

He was a medical Dr. and held rating of Captain in the Union Army of the Civil War. He left Pennsylvania (time unknown) and travelled West, stopping for a time in Illinois and Missouri, and then on to Colorado where some of his children settled. He then went ot Jacksonville, Or, an early day mining town where he continued his medical practice and a few years later settled in Illinois Valley, near Grants Pass, Or, where he practiced his profession until his death in 1904. Buried in Laurel Cemetery near Cave Junction, OR. Marriage notes. Alvin's first wife was his first cousin Margaret. His second wife was Mary, her sister. A book entitled 1890 Census Josephine County, Oregon Military Men and Widows lists Alvin H. Morey as a 2LT , E Regiment, 11th Illinois Infantry, serving from 24 April 1861 to 30 July 1861.
